The Alpine region has a diverse range of amazing bushwalking and a favourite of our participants. From hiking the Alpine environments on the Bogong Highplains or Mount Bogong, to the Gorge walk near Mount Beauty. Bushwalking is a great way to explore new places and take in everything at an easy pace.
Everybody can enjoy a bushwalk. From pleasurable short walks offering breathtaking views and scenery, to challenging multi day hikes up Victoria’s tallest mountains. Trekking poles are often used by hikers to keep their balance and to utilise the strength in their arms and equipment such as the TrailRider all-terrain wheelchair can help people with mobility limitations to access even the remote areas of the Alpine region.
Mount Buffalo is home to some of Victoria's most impressive rock faces and is unsurprisingly a popular destination for rock climbers. Mount Buffalo has rock climbing areas that beginners can enjoy, progressing all the way to very challenging climbs completed over several days.
Some people think that rock climbing is physically demanding, but this isn't always the case. By choosing the right rock climbs, and sometimes with the help of some rope tricks, we are able to make rock climbing accessible for lots of people.
Abseiling goes hand in hand with rock climbing. Often you climb up and abseil down again. However, you can also abseil without having to rock climbing at all.
Abseiling provides the same excitement of experiencing cliff faces, but doesn't require a lot of physical effort with gravity doing all the hard work.
